La presente investigación se realizó en 3 clínicas veterinarias, de la ciudad de Guatemala, en el área metropolitana. El propósito de la investigación fue identificar en gatos de raza persa, portadores asintomáticos de M. canis, en su manto de piel, es decir portadores sanos. Se usó una metodología de investigación cuantitativa, con 30 gatos persa y la técnica de Mckenzie, la cual consiste en tomar la muestra del manto de piel, con un cepillo e incubarlo en un agar DMT. Microsporum canis es una enfermedad zoonótica, que afecta entre otras especies a gatos. Los dermatofitos no son habitantes normales del manto de piel en gatos, pero los diferentes estudios reportan que M. canis puede invadir el manto de la piel y especialmente en el gato persa, siendo esta invasión, sin cursar en muchas ocasiones, con dañar la piel del pelo del gato, pero como portadores de la afección, los gatos pueden transmitir M. canis a las personas, perros u otros gatos. Se recolectaron los datos a través de una boleta de reporte por gato, según los resultados obtenidos. |
