| Summary, etc. | A study was conducted at the Parque Zoológico Nacional La Aurora, Guatemala, to determine the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii in the collection of red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus). Blood sampling was performed on 20 red-necked wallabies for prophylactic health testing and the detection of toxoplasmosis infection. The sample obtained from each specimen was used to determine the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies using the Chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) method. The results showed negative titers of IgG and IgM antibodies against T. gondii by the CLIA method, determining a seroprevalence of 0X 100 for toxoplasmosis infection in the wallabies. These results provide important information about the behavior of T. gondii antibodies in wallabies, as well as being the first report on the use of the CLIA method in the species and macropods in general. Se realizó un estudio en el Parque Zoológico Nacional La Aurora, Guatemala, para determinar la presencia de anticuerpos IgG e IgM contra Toxoplasma gondii en la colección de canguros de cuello rojo (Macropus rufogriseus). Se tomaron muestras de sangre de 20 ualabíes de cuello rojo para realizar pruebas de salud profilácticas y detectar la infección por toxoplasmosis. La muestra obtenida de cada muestra se utilizó para determinar la presencia de anticuerpos IgG e IgM mediante el método de inmunoensayo de quimioluminiscencia (CLIA). Los resultados arrojaron títulos negativos de anticuerpos IgG e IgM contra T. gondii por el método CLIA, determinando una seroprevalencia del 0X 100 para infección por toxoplasmosis en los canguros. Estos resultados brindan información importante sobre el comportamiento de los anticuerpos contra T. gondii en canguros, además de ser el primer informe sobre el uso del método CLIA en la especie y en los macrópodos en general. |
